The Mathematics Research Center, A.C. (CIMAT) and the Institute of Data Valorization (IVADO) have the pleasure of inviting businessmen, students and researchers from all sectors to the:
CIMAT and the Artificial Intelligence Alliance from Mexico, IVADO and FinML from Canada established an alliance to create scientific hubs for research, training and technology transfer.
The event is composed of two workshops:
The Fin-ML/IVADO Workshop is a three-day practical training in machine learning, applied to concrete problems in various industries:
The 13th Industrial Problem Solving Workshop aims to connect the productive and social sectors with the Academy. This edition of the workshop will be mainly focused in Artificial Intelligence. It will be held in CIMAT in the cities of Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Mérida and Monterrey, from January 13th to 17th, 2020.
In the first workshop IVADO will provide training in machine learning, including practical examples, to graduated students. In the second one, CIMAT and IVADO will offer the industrial partners the opportunity to work in a concrete problem together with researchers, academic technicians and graduate students.
In both events there will be participation of expert researchers from CIMAT, the Artificial Intelligence Alliance and IVADO, in the areas of AI and DS applied to the resolution of concrete problems.
IVADO, Montreal, Canada
IVADO aims to bring together industry professionals and academic researchers to develop cutting-edge expertise in data science, operational research and artificial intelligence. IVADO members provide data management methods and inform decision making for optimal resource use. In essence, IVADO creates opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaborations between the specialists, partners, researchers and students in its network.
IVADO was created out of an academic and industrial initiative as part of Campus Montréal, which brings together HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and l’Université de Montréal. The centre’s key early members in the corporate sector are Hydro-Québec, CAE, Cogeco, Thales, National Bank of Canada and Gaz Métro from the industry and the GERAD, the CIRRELT, the MILA, the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Data Science for Real-Time Decision-Making, the Department of Computer Sciences and Operations Research at Université de Montréal, the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, Tech3Lab, the Centre de recherches mathématiques and the Department of Decision Sciences at HEC Montréal in the academic sector.
CIMAT is a public research center within the CONACYT Centers System, dedicated to the generation, transmission and application of expertise in the areas of mathematics, statistics and computer science.
Oriented towards scientific research, high-level graduate education and training, the improvement of mathematical knowledge in society, and solving problems that fall within its areas of interest, CIMAT seeks to contribute to the scientific and technological development of Mexico.
The development and use of innovative information technology processes and solutions are important objectives for the global competitiveness of the Canadian finance sector. A key element driving future growth will be the sector’s capability to exploit big-data generated by digital marketplaces. This capability will depend on training a sufficient number of highly qualified personnel with expertise in mathematics, statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, finance, and operations research.
The Fin-ML network or Machine Learning in Finance, was created to respond to these new challenges and to become a Canadian reference for acquiring specialized skills in the field of innovative machine learning technology in quantitative finance and financial business analytics. The goal is to assist students and professionals to adapt and use the new wave of computer driven tools and techniques that are rapidly transforming our environment. We aim to form a new generation of finance professionals to meet the modeling and implementation needs of the quantitative spectrum of the Canadian financial industry and contribute to its global competitiveness.
The CONACYT Artificial Intelligence Alliance/Consortium implements strategies for the transfer of technology and knowledge in AI, through pure and applied research, the formation of specialized human capital and the development of complex AI projects with information treatment. The Alliance has an academic, social and industrial scope and impact in the public and private sector through the integration of resources, capabilities and expertise of all members of the Consortium. AIA members are: CIMAT, CIO, CICESE, CentroGeo, CIDESI, INFOTEC, IPICYT and INAOE.
